Doha: Swiss International School Qatar (SISQ) celebrates Qatar National Day and International Day.
Students from 94 countries, dressed in beautiful traditional costumes had the chance to parade around the school and raise the flag of their respective homelands.
Students from Pre-School all the way to G12 had the opportunity to “travel” from New Zealand to Brazil, from Croatia to Panama, from India to Egypt, from France to Sudan, from Algeria to Switzerland, and so on until they had visited 27 countries in just 1 day.
Qatari families and the international community made a huge effort to bring in the best food, amazing decorations, art, and crafts from their country, so the children could enjoy this amazing day.
They tasted delicious food like machbooks, luqaimat, warak enab, cozonac, and Swiss cheese, and watched their peers and their teachers perform on stage. A lot of talented students proudly sang on stage, danced traditional dances, or recited poems.
The event had performances from Turkey, Iraq, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Ireland, China, and Qatar, all done by talented students.
Arabic students from Secondary performed the Ardha to celebrate Qatar.
Students from PYP and MYP decorated their classrooms or their classroom doors to showcase the traditions of a country that was designated to them.
Students had the opportunity to open a virtual portal and visit a falcon museum and also use the newest virtual technology to hold a falcon and go hunting.
The school thanked parents and Qatari families for their support to make the event a success.
