SWISS has today officially unveiled its new first & business class, which will be debuting in 2025. The airline is marketing this product as “SWISS Senses.” Interestingly it’ll be rolled out on more planes than many of us expected.
In this post:
SWISS will launch its new first and business class product in 2025. Lufthansa Group is harmonizing its premium products across airlines. A few days ago Lufthansa unveiled the details of its new Allegris cabins, including details about a new first class suite and a new business class product. SWISS will be getting exactly the same seats, except with SWISS finishes.
Below are some pictures of SWISS’ new first class product. As you’d expect, this product features closable sliding doors, a personal wardrobe, a large seat table, seat heating and cooling, a wireless charging station, and a screen display that’s as wide as the suite. Much like on Lufthansa, the center suite can accommodate two people.
Below are some pictures of SWISS’ new business class product. Much like on Lufthansa, this is designed to meet a wide range of wishes and needs. Seating options include a double seat for passengers traveling together, and some seats with sliding doors. The business class seats feature heating and cooling, as well as wireless charging stations. All seats will feature direct aisle access.
For context, SWISS’ long haul fleet currently consists of the following planes:
SWISS has no plans to retire its 777s or A330s, though the current plan is to retire A340s as of 2025. Furthermore, SWISS is expected to take delivery of 10 Airbus A350-900s, which are part of the larger Lufthansa Group order.
So, what’s the plan for the new cabins being installed? They’ll be introduced from 2025 onwards:
- They’ll be installed on A350-900s, which will be newly delivered as of 2025
- A330-300s and 777-300ERs will also be reconfigured with these products
Interestingly SWISS has already published the seatmap for the reconfigured A330.
I’m kind of perplexed by how SWISS plans to install the same number of seats per row in first and business class on the A330, given how much narrower the cabin is. Having three first class suites per row (including a double suite in the middle) seems like it’ll be pretty tight.
I’m also curious if SWISS might have more first class seats on its A350-900s than Lufthansa does. Lufthansa will only have one row, while I wonder if SWISS could have two. After all, SWISS’ entire long haul fleet has first class, while only a small portion of Lufthansa’s does. Clearly SWISS sees more demand for first class.
Bottom line
SWISS plans to introduce a new first and business class product in 2025. That product has now been revealed, and as you can see, it more or less matches what Lufthansa is introducing, except with SWISS’ branding.
The airline will install these cabins on newly delivered A350-900s, which will be delivered as of 2025. Furthermore, as of that point, we can also expect that A330s and 777s will be reconfigured with these products.
What do you make of SWISS’ new premium cabin plans?
The current swiss first is great, this isnt.
So… this is exactly the same as the new Lufthansa cabins, except: (a) Different colours; (b) No roses; and (c) Better food. Correct?
Looks nice! I wonder if Austrian or Brussels airlines will be updated at all – guessing no addition of First Class, but curious about Business on those
Colours on Swiss are so much more classy than on Lufthansa.
Not a fan of the solo center seat in J. It reduces the number of overall seats in J, thus increasing the cash price, while also limiting award availability. Solo travelers can still snag a single seat by the window.
Allegris will debut at the same time on the A350 and A330 according to the latest news.
Very disappointed that LH and LX are destroying the F product. Having booked a lot of paid F since Covid with LH/LX I have often found it hard to get availability on my chosen dates (I don’t mean A availability.. I mean just an F seat). That was never an issue prior to Covid and it seems crazy that they are now reducing to 3 F seats (That middle couple thing is a farce and…
Very disappointed that LH and LX are destroying the F product. Having booked a lot of paid F since Covid with LH/LX I have often found it hard to get availability on my chosen dates (I don’t mean A availability.. I mean just an F seat). That was never an issue prior to Covid and it seems crazy that they are now reducing to 3 F seats (That middle couple thing is a farce and cannot be considered 2 seats) when they are filling 8/9 seat cabins.
Lets look at some examples for the coming 7 days for LX:
ZRH-SIN:
Sat – Sold out (8 seats)
Sun – 7 seats sold
Mon – 7 seats sold
Tues – NA
Wed – Sold out (8 seats)
Thurs – 6 seats sold
Frid – 5 seats sold
ZRH-LAX:
Sat – 7 seats sold
Sun – Sold out (8 seats)
Mon – NA
Tues – Sold Out (8 seats)
Wed – Sold out (8 seats)
Thurs – 6 seats sold
Frid – 7 seats sold
ZRH-JNB
Sat – Sold out (8 seats)
Sun – 6 seats sold
Mon – 6 seats sold
Tues – 7 seats sold
Wed – 5 seats sold
Thurs – Sold out (8 seats)
Frid – 3 seats sold
LX seems to be filling their cabins with paying F customers (very few seats available for redemption to a select few) so why are they wanting to significantly reduce their cabin size. There have also been very few discounted fares around recently so one can safely conclude that these are high fare paying customers. So why are they wanting to significantly reduce the F cabin size? Can we expect fares to go up by 250% in which case whoa re they expecting to pay those rates?
I agree. I book a lot of high-end clients who pay for F and for the first time ever in the last year or so there are many dates that are sold out. Reducing from 8 to 6 would be one thing but 8 to 3 makes no sense.
The Swiss premium cabins (and the economy product) need a refresh, for sure. That said, these images feel like the refresh is underwhelming.
That double suite is puzzling. Unless the companion can be added for a steep discount then why woudln’t you prefer to each have your own seat. You can still invite the other to eat with the buddy seat. Then you each get a TV. I really think this will be sold as a single seat 95% of the time. Going from 8 to 3 seats is a huge drop. Even for cash tickets are going to be super tough to get.
Feels like Lufthansa is basically doing a Volkswagen Group strategy – offering the same basic product platform just styled and looking differently. Think how they repackage VW’s as Audi’s, Škoda’s and Seats and you get the picture. I’m guessing Austrian and Brussels will be also getting their own flavour of Allegris. I’m not sure about this to be honest, as much as these airlines are part of the same group they do have their own market demographics and thus needs…
Yeah, I wish that Swiss can have it’s own cabins too provide a different hard product experience than Lufthansa
There is something slightly hilarious about LH’s strategy of now having the same cabins on both LH and LX but not being able to get any efficiencies from sharing planes…
Idk man, there is something not-slightly hilarious about the way the entire company and brands are run. It always pains me that its the LH Group that represents some of the coolest countries and cultures out there.
So in business class, Swiss is retrofitting from a staggered business class seat to…a staggered business class seat.
I completely missed the memo about F being one row… Yeah good luck with redemptions, my guess is that only HONs will have access to max 1 seat (or the double suite) in advance. In the unlikely case that not all seats are sold closer to the departure date, *maybe* space will open up for Senators/FTs. Redemptions with partner programs on LH F will probably be limited to the 747-8s.
SWISS already shows their updated A330-300 seatmap on the following page:
https://www.swiss.com/ch/en/fly/on-board/swiss-senses
It does indeed include 4 F seats (influding the double suite).
There will be one row of first class suites on the A330 indeed, with a double suite in the middle. The new seat map is already on the airline’s website.
Yep, render is already up. A330 cabin is narrow but not that much narrower. Aisle adjustments and slight seat mods will make it an easy fit.
The renderings look as if they are for the a330 cabin. Also the reds of the J cabin remind alot of the JAL apex suites.
