A government push to increase the number of small businesses listed by Switzerland’s commercial register is not worth the damage it would do to the country’s tax secrecy rules, a leading business association said Thursday.
Economiesuisse was responding to a public consultation on a proposal under which the Federal Tax Administration would be able to report to the Federal Statistical Office any unregistered one-person businesses with a VAT turnover of at least 100,000 francs ($100,000).
