Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has awarded a contract to aviation services company Swissport to provide load control services for its continental flights.
Under the five-year expanded contract, the company will deliver its ‘Centralised Load Control’ unit (CLC). The company will annually be provided with around 21,000 load-sheets across 47 airports.
According to SWISS, the yearly service volume may reach 21,000 load-sheets, up from the current 12,000.
The partnership between the parties began in 2013 when Swissport started providing load control services to SWISS across European destinations.
Swissport Europe, Middle East & Africa executive vice-president Luzius Wirth said: “We are delighted that a renowned airline such as SWISS entrusts us to carry out load control for their entire continental operations.
“Thanks to the recent opening of our second CLC center in Nairobi and our growing team of highly qualified specialists, working from Zurich, Casablanca and Nairobi, we have excellent prospects for further expansion of these services.”
A total of 100 Swissport specialists based in Zurich will provide the services for SWISS’ operations in Zurich and flights departing from Geneva in Switzerland.
Load sheets provide instructions for optimal positioning of cargo loading and distribution of passenger seating in a flight. They are based on factors such as weight, weather conditions, runway specifications and aircraft performance.
Earlier this month, Swissport announced the opening of its first Aspire brand lounge at Perth Airport.
