Massachusetts residents don’t need to leave their couch to participate in the tax-free weekend.
The annual holiday is on Aug. 13 through Aug. 14 and it will give those shopping in the Bay State the chance to have many of their purchases be exempt from the regular 6.25% state sales tax.
The holiday is both for in-person and online sales.
The item, however, needs to be purchased Saturday or Sunday during Eastern Daylight Time.
“No sales tax is due on that purchase, even if delivery of the item occurs after the sales tax holiday weekend,” the state’s website reads.
There are a number of items, however, that don’t qualify for the holiday. This includes gas, cannabis, alcohol or items more than $2,500. This applies to both in-person and online sales.
