This French café is as charming as they come. Alongside a cabinet of baked treats and sandwiches, indulge in a French-style breakfast – croque monsieurs, eggs benedict and pain perdu all make an appearance, and are best enjoyed in the sun-filled dining room or cute blue courtyard. You can now also visit Madeleine after dark, with a brand new bistro-style dinner menu on offer!

Only a few weeks after opening, La Bastide has become the talk of the neighbourhood – not just for their classic bistro plates (steak tartare, frites, oysters, duck), or for the delightful continental breakfast on the leafy terrace (pastries courtesy of Miller + Baker, bien sûr), but for the warmth and passion that owners Michelle and Rob imbue into their dining room.

This gorgeous French restaurant is part of an 1880 heritage building in Fremantle with outdoor seating and a wine bar. Angel’s House was created by two French brothers, Anthony and Jeremy, who both hail from the south of France. Gorge yourself on their crowd-pleaser dish, the boeuf bourguignon, with braised beef and red wine sauce. And don’t leave before you have a chance to try their riz au lait – a silky treat of creamy rice and salted-butter caramel.

Tucked into Nedlands is the restaurant Chez Pierre, which specialises in French provincial cuisine. Pierre himself studied cookery at the culinary institute Le Cordon Bleu in France, so make sure to indulge in the dégustation menu, where each course pairs with the perfect wine. Get your mouth watering over dishes like the carré d’agneau rôti: marinated lamb with white bean and rosemary mousseline.

It’s all about presentation at French Accent! Here, traditional cuisine is infused with a youthful and interactive approach toward the French dining experience. While their menu appears simple with dishes like pea and ham soup and duck confit, you will be amazed by what arrives at your table. Beautiful food, fantastic service: you won’t go amiss here.

Ooh la la. If there’s a place to feel like a celebrity in Perth, it has got to be dining on French-inspired cuisine over the blue waters of Perth Crown Metropol’s pool. This luxury centre is the perfect place to spoil yourself with the French dining experience. Try out their Parisian gnocchi with mushrooms and macadamia cream and let your senses go to heaven. What’s more? Bistro Guillaume offers free top-ups on the bread and butter.
Crown Perth, Great Eastern Highway, Burswood
Old time New York meets the backstreets of Paris. This European restaurant, while not strictly French, deserves the recognition. Le Rebelle’s crab toast and duck liver parfait with truffle butter are classiques not to be missed between you and your friends. Experience this phenomenal restaurant and then finish off with a vanilla bean crème caramel dessert.
676 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley
While Vincent may not bill itself strictly as a French restaurant, when it comes to vibes – well, you’re practically in a charming Parisian courtyard. Their ample wine list leans heavily to the French, and the constantly rotating menu scribbled on the tiles will have you saying “Ooh la la!”: think pâté en croûte, salade niçoise, duck confit or coq au vin.
