We’re not fancy – give us a meat and two veg and we’re pretty content.
Make it a Sunday roast, and we’re in love – here are some of our favourite Sunday roasts around Perth.
While Besk generally keeps things pretty light, bright and breezy, their new Sunday roast offering is comfortingly traditional. Centrepiece roasts are designed to share (think crispy porchetta or succulent beef rib) and accompanied by ultra-crisp duck fat potatoes, seasonal veg and gravy. That’s if you can make your way past the roster of snacks to start – with plates like woodfired portobello mushrooms, clams, nduja and beans, or chipotle beef atop a tortilla on offer, it’ll take a whole heap of self control!
264 Railway Parade, West Leederville
Fancy a comforting roast… But also appreciate the finer things in life? Corvo’s Claremont take on the Sunday roast is a fittingly fancy three-course feast from their woodfired oven. Start things off with zucchini fritti before moving onto the succulent shared entrees of hot smoked salmon and decadent pork-stuffed Yorkshire puddings. The star of the show? That wood roasted striploin of beef, served with an autumnal salad and crisp roast potatoes. Have room for dessert? Add on their homemade apple pie with ice cream and custard.
34 Saint Quentin Avenue, Claremont
Not only is St Brigid home to one of our fave little fireplaces around Perth, it’s also the location of one of our fave Sunday roasts… Coincidence? Absolutely not! Curl up by the fire and hook into one of their two roast options – beef or mushroom. Both come with hearty servings of roast carrot, potato, broccolini, mashed potatoes braised onions and red wine jus. Plus a bitta Yorkshire pud if you like getting extra cosy.
251 Scarborough Beach Road, Doubleview
If you’re venturing up in the northern suburbs on a Sunday drive sometime soon you absolutely must stop in at The Iluka for their Sunday roast. While their menu is a mouthwatering mix of classic Mediterranean dishes, they’ve also got a few English pub faves up their sleeves and the Sunday roast is right up there. Choose from black angus beef fillet, half chook or homemade roasted nut loaf, served with duck fat roast potatoes, crushed carrot & suede, seasonal greens, homemade gravy jus and of course a homemade Yorkshire pud! It’s quite the hit, so make sure you book ahead.
98 O’Mara Blvd, Iluka
This pint-sized Leederville eatery has been a slow-burn success story, quietly building a solid reputation as one of Perth’s best eateries. Showcasing local and seasonal produce, the Daph’s menu changes with almost head-spinning frequency – but we’re hoping the new Sunday roast sticks around for a good while. With an appropriately fancy twist, the restaurant’s roast will bring you three coarses of roasty goodness: including a started of sesame chicken toast, plus oodles of sides and a decadent brownie for dessert.
226 Oxford Street, Leederville
When we first wrote this, Seasonal Brewing Co. was a brand-new venue, punching well above their weight with a strong contender for Perth’s number one Sunday roast. They’ve maintained their excellent reputation – the roasted-overnight pork is an often-returning favourite, although sometimes they change it up with beef, ham or even the occasional chicken. Sides include seasonal veg, Yorkshire puds and gravy – or if you’re lucky you’ll even score some cauliflower cheese! Roasts are available from noon until sold out – which they very often do, so we recommend you head there early.
175 Guildford Road, Maylands
We were guilty of writing off Fibber McGee’s as just another Irish pub, but then – luckily! – we saw the light. Owned and run by chefs who take pub grub to the next level, with just about everything made in-house – from their soda bread to their sauces, and even extends to owning and operating their own organic farm, Drumlane. The same commitment to quality is seen in their Sunday roast, which is served alongside veggies, stuffing, roast potatoes, Yorkies and gravy.
711 Newcastle Street, Leederville
While we typically reserve our Sunday trips to The Raffles for a cheeky Sunday sesh a little later in the day, their new roast is making us re-consider a lunch time mission. We also literally cannot keep ourselves from a well done Roast Porchetta, and The Raffles is served with crispy Kipfler potatoes, roasted baby carrots, brussel sprouts, yorkshire pudding and gravy. It’ll set you back 29 well-spent dollars, available until they run out every Sunday during winter.
70-72 Canning Beach Road, Applecross
East Freo’s Young George is the bar everyone wants in their neighbourhood – from its bottle shop, to its perfect-for-sharing, globally-inspired menu, and even its sustainable ethos. Add in their stellar Sunday roast? Well, we certainly didn’t need any more convincing. Wood-roasted pork, beans, salsa verde… It may not be ultra-traditional, but boy is it good.
48 George Street, East Fremantle
A classic pub requires a classic roast, and the Windsor’s is as classic as they come. This $32 gem comes with all the trimmings, including a whopper of a Yorkie – best enjoyed by the cosy fire, of course.
12 Mill Point Road, South Perth
The latest addition to Perth’s – admittedly quite healthy – Irish pub scene, Johnny Fox’s has got their Sunday roast on lock. To go with the rest of their hearty-meal-filled menu, every Sunday they rock a $24 roast all day, filled with beef, stuffing, mash, Yorkshire pud, roast potatoes, veg and as much gravy as you can fill your boots with.
205 James Street, Northbridge
Every week Chapters is serving up a proper roast, at a real proper price. For only 20 bucks a head, you’ll be treated to a heaving plate, with duck fat roast potatoes, seasonal veg, Yorkshire pudding and a stream of gravy. The meat on offer rotates between beef, chicken and pork – whichever it is, it’s always good.
102/1244 Marmion Avenue, Currambine
A historic pub seems like the perfect setting for a leisurely Sunday roast and the Rose & Crown Hotel ticks both of those boxes and then some. Add in a cosy fireplace, or their outdoor fire pit, and it’s the perfect way to spend a winter afternoon. While they’ve got an impressive rotation of meats on offer, their roasted pork with crackling is just too enticing to pass up.
105 Swan Street, Guildford
We love JB O’Reilly‘s warm neighbourhood vibes, but do you know what we love almost as much? You guessed it, their bonza Sunday roast. These guys really put it on, with choices of beef, lamb, pork, chicken, or… if you can even handle it, the Ultimate Roast. This bad boy has all four meats, veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, sage stuffing and gravy. You might need some stretchy pants for this one…
99 Cambridge Street, West Leederville
People say you can’t have quality AND quantity, but this modern English pub proves you can, in fact, do both. The Duke‘s all-you-can-eat carvery will be the balm to any rough weekend, and features a selection of roast meats plus plenty of sides, desserts and even a salad bar.
2 Innesvale Way, Carramar
Blasta Brewing Co over in Burswood are back with another winter of their legendary roasts. Blasta’s Sunday Roast is a rotating special, but often comes with Stirling Ranges beef, crushed and crispy chat potatoes, honey glazed roast carrots, ultra-cheesy cauliflower and three cheese bake, minted baby peas, Yorkshire pudding and best of all, bottomless gravy! They’ve also got roast chicken available for the kids, plus a delicious mini doughnut dessert that’s served with Blastaweizen custed and salted caramel sauce. Bookings essential, do so HERE.
84/88 Goodwood Parade, Burswood
Obviously, the first thing we think of when we think Sunday roasts? An ocean view. We kid, but there’s something about the salty air at the Galway Hooker that adds a certain seaside charm to an afternoon. With a fit-out that was built in Ireland and shipped over, the roast offerings are as traditional as you’d hope, served with all the trimmings (and a Guinness, we hope). Having a rough start to the week? They also offer a Monday version of their roast special for lunch and dinner!
3/148 The Esplanade, Scarborough
The picturesque Parkerville Tavern is nestled in the Hills, and makes the perfect destination for a lazy weekend drive. Sit inside by the cosy open fireplaces or soak up the winter sunshine in the beer garden – all with a glass of wine and their Sunday roast, of course. Rotating between beef, pork and chicken, it’s always the perfect end to the weekend.
6 Owen Rd, Parkerville
Sometimes, you just need a full roast dinner served in a giant Yorkshire pudding that’s as big as your head… thankfully, the Kingsley recognises – nay, celebrates! – this need. This classic roast is generously served, and of course comes with accompanying potatoes, carrots, peas and gravy to accompany it – although we all know what we’re really here for.
90 Kingsley Drive, Kingsley
You didn’t think we’d leave you with just ONE giant Yorkie, did you? Of course not – and 3Sheets Inn is here to save your Sunday. Loaded up with beef, roast potatoes, carrots and cauliflower cheese, this monster is only $26.95 and available all day – or at least until it sells out. Paired with a similarly wallet-friendly pint, we can hardly believe our eyes!
