The 41,000-foot commute is still a commute. And, when it comes to private jets, there are some that are a cut above the rest.
These days, a select lucky few are taking luxury air travel to new heights with state-of-the-art ultra-long-range executive jets from manufacturers such as Embraer and Bombardier. And then there are those bold enough to convert commercial airliners into opulent flying palaces.
Private jet interiors are becoming more and more luxurious and spacious with some companies now offering jets with as much space as an average house, able to accommodate countless passengers to make for a more comfortable flight, especially a long one.
Design themes and features on some models are becoming more impressive, the 36 meters long Embraer Lineage 1000E is a variant of the Embraer 190 regional jet airliner with a range of 8,334 km and a cruising speed of 874 km/h.
This Aircraft stands out from its competitors with its customisable interiors.
Designer Jay Beever has created some truly unique interior concepts for the 1000E including the radical Kyoto Airship design with its huge skylights and Japanese porcelain inspired wall designs.
Along the theme of kooky airship designs, there is also the Art Deco-inspired, almost gothic Hollywood Airship design.
At US$53 million the Embraer Lineage 1000E is up there in terms of cost and spacious enough.
But if you are looking to have a luau with a large group of friends whilst en route to the north Oahu surf break you may need to prepare to fork out a little more cash.
The Boeing 747-8I is huge, 4,800 square meters to be exact.
Starting from US$403 million before any customisation work is even begun on the aircraft, these double level planes feature a separate bedroom with lounge chairs, multiple luxury bathrooms and an office and a full state dining room that can be converted into a boardroom.
If the Embraer Lineage is too small and The Boeing 7478I is a bit out of your price range, you can cut the difference with another offering from Boeing.
The Boeing 787-8 BBJ is not to be missed and at a quaint 2,400 square feet you have enough room for you and 39 of your closest friends, just make sure they have all their passports ready for touchdown possibly 17,150km from your point of departure.
This aircraft’s interior was styled by luxury yacht interior designers, Paris-based Pierrejean Design Studios to be the ultimate in extravagant air travel.
The interior design is a combination of Asian tradition and European modernity, with composite materials used as well as hardwoods, marble, fabric and leathers to create a truly unique experience for passengers.
But all that bespoke beauty is going to cost you, with the basic Boeing 787-8 BBJ setting you back US$239 million-plus another US$100 million for the custom fit-out.
It is the greenest aircraft on the list with excellent fuel economy, it is able to travel at mach 0.85.
Expense aside, the ease at which you can travel combined with the opulent interiors of these aircraft make them an excellent option if you like to travel in comfort and style.
