Dear Tiatira Com,
If you lined up the major cities of Spain, starting with Madrid and ending with Barcelona, then asked, “Which one of these is not like the others?” the answer is always Barcelona. In Madrid, you will feel the echo of artists Diego Velázquez and El Greco. In Barcelona, you will step into the embrace of Picasso and Gaudí. It is still Spain but with a sprinkling of pixie dust.
That becomes clearer through Silversea’s S.A.L.T. program in this Catalonian city. S.A.L.T., which stands for Sea and Land Taste, lets guests experience destinations through different culinary lenses. First stop: La Boquería, the 350-stall market that writer Jonathan Lerner calls a “seasonal master class” in a “food-crazed city.”
Lerner’s companion on this day was Xavi Morón, a chef who also is a designer of food experiences. In Morón’s hands, Silversea guests will experience, besides the market, a three-hour dinner called “The History of Barcelona in Seven Dishes,” a tour through the past and a bit of performance art sleight-of-hand that has diners reaching for a cloud that’s not a cloud at all but dessert.
The end of a meal, the beginning of a memory. Does it get sweeter than that?
Stay curious.
Warmest Regards,
