The Department of Social Protection’s European Employment Services, EURES Ireland will host 'Jobs in Ireland 2022' On-line Recruitment Event on Tuesday, 15th March 2022 from 10am to 2pm. The online event will bring job opportunities with Irish employers in the hospitality, construction and transport sectors to jobseekers and job changers in Ireland and across EU/EEA countries, the UK and further afield.
To date 98 companies, including Allen Cranes Ltd, O’Carroll Engineering, Secon Construction Services Ltd, Superior Passive Construction Ltd, Breffni Insulation Ltd, Dublin Bus, JJ Kavanagh and Sons, Protrans Ltd, Conrad Hotel, iNUA, Lough Eske Castle and Tifco Hotel Group, have registered for the event.
There is still an opportunity for Employers to register for this event.
Over 500 positions have been advertised and we expect more will be advertised in the coming days. A selection of the positions on offer include: Chefs, Spa and Beauty therapists, Bar and Waiting staff, Accommodation Assistants, Managers in Hotels, HGV Drivers, Bus Drivers, Engineers, Project Managers, Electricians, Carpenters, Plasterers, Metal Fabricators and Welders among many others.
As part of this event, there will be presentations by employers and Employer Representative Groups from the hospitality, construction and transport sectors. EURES advisers from Ireland will give an overview of the various aspects of living and working conditions in Ireland and the financial supports available for jobseekers and job changers who move for work from another EU/EEA country. Advice on CV preparation and job interviews in Ireland will be given and during the event EURES Advisers will be available to answer questions. Jobseekers will also have an opportunity to talk directly to employers through private chats.
With the online jobs fair technology, employers can access talented jobseekers from across Europe without leaving their office and jobseekers can apply for jobs and attend interviews without having the inconvenience and cost of travel.
Commenting on the upcoming recruitment event, Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys said:
“We now have more people working in the labour force than ever before in modern history.
“Certain vacancies continue to remain challenging to fill as many companies are looking for two key elements when hiring: candidates with specific industry skills and relevant experience.
“This is the first of a number of recruitment events planned for this year that support business to fill their vacancies while also supporting the mobility of workers across the EU/EEA area.
“Supported by the European Union, this event is focussed on attracting workers to Ireland and aims to highlight the opportunities for working and living in Ireland and to promote the vacancies that employers are currently recruiting for.
“The main employer groups represented at the event are from the hospitality and construction sectors. This reflects both the great opportunities for careers for workers with relevant skills in these sectors and our Government's commitment to rebuild these sectors and notably the need to deliver commitments under Housing for All.”
Minister Humphreys added:
“The EURES online event is an ideal opportunity for employers here to source the employees they need as well as giving an excellent opportunity to these potential employees. It also builds on commitments under Pathways to Work to work with employers to fulfil their recruitment needs and to support the social mobility of workers.”
Jobseekers can register and apply for the jobs advertised for this event, submit their CV and sign up for online job interviews now. Over 2,200 jobseekers registered for the previous European Online Job day we hosted in November. Interviews with employers will take place online on 15th and 16th March. Details of this recruitment event are available on EURES – European Job Days and most of the jobs will also be advertised on www.jobsireland.ie. A person wishing to get further information on how to participate can email eures@welfare.ie .
EURES (European Employment Service) is a European-wide initiative that has been in place since 1993 and assists jobseekers to take up employment within the EU. It is a network of all the public employment services in the European Union and the European Economic Area. Through EURES, public employment services share their employment vacancies and services with each other. The labour market in Europe (EU) is a single market and job vacancies in every Member State are available to citizens of each Member State to apply.
EURES provides opportunities for jobseekers in Ireland to seek work in other EU countries in the wider European market and equally, it provides jobseekers within the EU/EEA abroad with the opportunity to find work with employers based here in Ireland. As Ireland is the main English-speaking country is Europe, it is hoped that these events will be attractive to jobseekers from other European countries to learn English, gain new work experience and spend time living abroad.
The role of EURES is to provide information and advice on job opportunities in the EU/EEA.
As well as providing information to persons who wish to move to Ireland to take up employment, information and advice is provided to Irish residents interested in taking up job opportunities in the EU/EEA through EURES. By providing information and advice to clients prior to departure, EURES ensures that all those interested in taking employment outside of Ireland have appropriate information on job opportunities abroad before they leave.
