Clear your calendar for festive fun! The Modern Pantry is celebrating the season – along with the one-year anniversary of its Ambleside location – with holiday activities sprinkled throughout the next month. From a brunch-pop up and cookie-making classes to seasonal treats and gifts, the North Shore bakery and café is channeling Santa’s magic to create a joyful Yuletide oasis.
The Modern Pantry’s first-ever holiday brunch pop-up dishes up a decadent assortment of holiday-inspired food and drinks. The made-from-scratch offerings include croissant toast topped with lox and lemon dill yogurt; orange amaretto bread pudding with vanilla bean crème anglaise and pomegranate seeds; and peppermint hot chocolate with fresh mint leaves and a crown of freshly whipped cream and chocolate peppermint bark. Diners seeking a sparkling enhancement can order a mimosa set for two, made with rosé prosecco and served with orange juice created from rescued fruits; or opt for a cocktail, like the rosemary caesar, with rosemary-infused gin. Brunch is first-come, first-served, and will take place at the Ambleside location on weekends starting November 19 until December 11 (9:30am – 2pm).
Eager to improve your cookie game? The Modern Pantry will host a series of cookie-making classes that reveal how to bake the perfect Christmas treat. Participants will bake three dozen cookies while indulging in a glass of wine or seasonal drink; light, savoury snacks will be served as well. Public cookie-making classes will take place November 27 and December 4 (5pm – 8pm).
Whether you’re seeking stocking stuffers or hostess gifts, The Modern Pantry’s beautifully packaged edible delights are sure to instil holiday cheer. Items include Santa Sack snack packs, containing sesame brittle, chocolate peppermint bark, salted pistachio meringues and other goodies packaged in linen bread bags; cookie boxes featuring an assortment of 12 flavours – including malted sugar, raspberry Linzer and orange cardamom shortbread – packaged with twine and cedar; and Christmas Cakes with candied fruit, baked in individual trays and tied with ribbon. Heftier presents include reusable wooden gift crates packed with house-made products and an option to add a bottle of wine, candles, tea towels or other specialty items. Note that some items are available for pre-order only; pre-orders should be placed online by December 20.
Hosting holiday breakfast or dessert? Pick up a Modern Pantry box of bake-from-frozen delights, including pecan sticky buns, spinach cheddar breakfast buns and blueberry ginger scones; a frozen brunch platter, including ready-to-bake croissants and salmon lox with cream cheese; and dazzling Christmas desserts, such as bourbon pumpkin pie and cranberry chocolate pecan pie. There are also New Year’s Eve necessities such as charcuterie platters, pizza kits, and a selection of sparkling wines.
“We’re feeling particularly festive as we celebrate The Modern Pantry Ambleside’s one-year anniversary this holiday season,” said Kendall Parslow, owner. “We have received overwhelming support from the West Vancouver community over the past year, and we are truly grateful. Our team is eager to treat new and returning guests to a full roster of holiday happenings, including our first-ever holiday brunch pop-up and take-home treats that will make holiday hosting much easier!”
