The pair look to celebrate sustainability with their unisex clothing capsule.
While the contemporary fashion label Universal Works is known for many things – including crafting undeniably sleek menswear cuts – one of its most noticeable accolades is its dedication to sustainability. Now, the Nottingham-based company has looked to collaborate with a brand boasting a similar ethos to its own in the name of celebrating the wonders of sustainable fashion. Enter The Pilgrm Hotel.
All it takes is a quick tour around the Paddington based establishment to realise that its focus on original features and refurbished finishes are also an eco-friendly bid to blend style with sustainability, making it the perfect partner for Universal Works’ latest collaboration. When it comes to the collaborative unisex capsule itself, it becomes clear that cosiness is of the utmost importance to the pair as we are treated to an array of relaxed loungewear cuts crafted from 100% cotton and repurposed material, all of which are adorned with subtle stripe detailing and earthy hues.
When speaking on his affinity for The Pilgrm and his collaboration with the establishment, Universal Works’ founder David Keyte claimed, “these days, when I travel to London, I tend to always stay at The Pilgrm. Whether I’m in the city for business or just seeing friends, I find that I have a better trip if I stay somewhere that I feel comfortable. That’s always the case at The Pilgrm. The staff always make sure you feel welcome. Can a hotel ever be your second home? Bringing things back to the collaboration, what makes it more poignant for me the second time around, isn’t the fact that we’d designed a collection for how people’s lifestyles had been altered during the pandemic – working from home etc – it’s actually about the philosophy of reusing raw materials that would otherwise have gone to waste.”
