Toronto Home Prices Dropped Nearly 18% in February
The average price of a home in Toronto was down 17.9% year over year to C$1.10 million (US$809,121) in February, according to a Friday report from Toronto Regional Real Estate Board. At the same time, however, there was a 5.5% increase in prices compared to January, the report said. Sales plummeted 47% from a year ago, and new listings were down 40.9%. “It has been almost a year since the Bank of Canada started raising interest rates. Home prices have dropped over the last year from the record peak in February 2022, mitigating the impact of higher borrowing costs,” Paul Baron, president of the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board, said in a statement.
