Muse Frontman Ready to Part With His Modern Malibu Digs
Matt Bellamy, the frontman of the Grammy-winning British rock band Muse, has put his Malibu, California, mansion on the market for a hair under $6 million. The contemporary home, in Malibu’s upscale Point Dume neighborhood, spans 3,685 square feet and has six bedrooms and six bathrooms alongside arched doorways, beamed ceilings, picture windows and ocean and mountain views. Some Sydney Suburbs Are Seeing Big Price Appreciation
Home prices across Sydney inched up 0.1% in the year to June, but in certain pockets of the Australian city values have logged much more substantial appreciation over the same time. Bellevue Hill, in the eastern suburbs, ranked top for house price growth with the median sale price jumping 18.4%, according to Domain’s latest House Price Report. Bronte and Cronulla were also among the top-growth suburbs. U.S. Homeowners More Likely to Sell if They Have a Higher Mortgage Rate
Homeowners in the U.S. with a mortgage rate above 5% are nearly twice as likely to say that they plan to sell their home than to those paying a rate below 5%, according to a recent survey from property portal Zillow. The poll found that roughly 80% of mortgage holders have a rate of less than 5%. “We expect mortgage rates may notch down slightly as inflation comes under control, but they are unlikely to return to 5% in the near future,” said Orphe Divounguy, a senior economist at Zillow Home Loans. “Over time, homeowners will likely accept higher rates as the new normal, but until then, the market could remain challenging for home shoppers, who will see fewer options and higher prices.” Housingwire
