It looks like something built in Ancient Greece
When you think of beautiful theatres, you might think of ancient ruins and European city breaks. You might not be thinking of the UK, where the theatres are cool n’ all, but not necessarily the most stunning you’ve ever seen.
Well, if that is what you’ve been thinking, a new study is here to prove you wrong. The research from Premier Inn has revealed the most beautiful theatre in the whole of the UK, according to science, apparently. They literally measured how much the human eye was drawn to it, using eye-tracking technology.
The Minack Theatre in Cornwall has been crowned the very best (and to be honest, if you’ve been there before, that won’t come as much of a surprise). Perched on some Cornish cliffs, the Minack is a huge open-air theatre overlooking Porthcurno Bay.
And if you’re in the UK, it’s the kind of place you’re going to want to add to your bucket list. The Minack Theatre looks like something built in Ancient Greece, but you can get there by train. Ideal.
You sit on the grass or little concrete terraces to watch the shows, which vary month to month. This December you can take the kids to ’The Christmassy Show of Christmassy Christmasness,’ which sounds, well, Christmassy. But if you’re booking in a visit, make sure you do so far in advance, as this place gets busy.
Just behind Minack was Shakespeare’s Globe in London, followed by the Grand Opera Theatre in Belfast. The full list is as follows:
1. Minack Theatre, Cornwall
2. Shakespeare’s Globe, London
3. Grand Opera House, Belfast
4. Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff
5. Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester
6. Royal Albert Hall, London
7. London Coliseum, London
8. Bristol Old Vic, Bristol
9. Grand Theatre, Blackpool
10. Glasgow Theatre Royal, Glasgow
ICYMI: travellers are being told not to visit this popular UK destination in 2023.
Plus: Thorpe Park is planning to build the UK’s tallest roller coaster.
