Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami Move Just Raised the City’s Appeal Among Latin America
Lionel Messi has spurned Saudi Arabia in favor of David Beckham’s team Inter Miami—and the local real estate market is psyched about it. The Argentinian soccer star, who could play as soon as July, already owns several condo units in Sunny Isles, including one on the 47th floor of a Porsche-branded tower and two a short distance away at Trump Royale. Messi will most likely be upgrading his long-term digs—but more importantly, could help spur greater interest in the team and tourism from Latin America, which is always good for local housing demand. “This just put Inter Miami as the go-to place,” said Cyril Bijaoui of the Corcoran Group. Florida, California and Texas Lead the U.S. in Foreclosures as They Rise Nationwide
Foreclosure-related filings in the U.S., including default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, were up 7% from April and increased 14% annually to a total of 35,196 properties, according to ATTOM real estate data. Additionally, lenders began the foreclosure process on 23,245 properties, which is 4% higher than April and 5% higher than last year. Florida led the states with the most foreclosure starts, followed by California and then Texas. Despite these increases, these rates are about level with pre-pandemic lows, so the heightened number of foreclosures could be part of a post-pandemic normalization process. NBC News
Las Vegas Ranks No. 5 in the U.S. for Steepest Drop in Property Value
Home prices in Las Vegas are dropping fast, according to Zillow. In fact, Sin City ranked No. 5 for the largest annual drop in value in May, 6.9%. Although Las Vegas agents have reported prices are trending upward compared to earlier this year, Orphe Divounguy, a senior economist for Zillow, said the year-over-year slowdown was all but inevitable after the city’s pandemic boom. “Las Vegas is experiencing a much-needed market rebalancing,” Divounguy said. “Homeowners saw their homes appreciate roughly 43% from the start of the pandemic, so that increase was obviously unsustainable.” 8NewsNow
