TikTok’s test of auto scrolling could result in a much-requested feature finally landing on the platform.
If you've used TikTok before, you might have wondered if it's possible to view content without having to manually scroll yourself. Many users have, and for the longest time the answer has been a resounding no, but that might soon be changing.
Auto scrolling is a relatively simple feature that would cause TikTok videos to automatically play one after the other, without the need for swiping. When one video ends, TikTok would simply jump to the next video instead of the same video playing again and again.
Auto scrolling hasn’t been fully introduced to TikTok quite yet. While TikTok has implemented many useful features such as its TikTok collections, not all users have access to the feature. MUO can that auto scroll is available on some accounts, which is why you might have heard people talking about it.
If you want to see if you're one of the people that TikTok is testing this feature with, make sure your app is on the latest version. Then, long press on a video and see if the option pops up. If it does, that means that you're lucky enough to be able to try the feature out, and if you're not, then unfortunately there's nothing that you can do about that quite yet.
With that being said, it's unlikely that TikTok would be testing this feature if they weren't planning on implementing it at some point in the future. So if you were desperately hoping to use this feature, but don't yet have access, don't fret. The feature is likely on its way.
TikTok users have been trying to figure out how to get TikTok to auto scroll basically since learning how to use TikTok, and it's easy to understand why.
There are many benefits to having TikTok be capable of automatically scrolling through your feed.
If you’ve ever wanted to watch TikTok while your hands are occupied, such as while you’re putting on your makeup, then this feature would be able to help. For users with disabilities, this could open up new avenues of accessibility for them as well.
In terms of engagement, auto scrolling could potentially open TikTok users up to new and more engaging content. You're more likely to give a video you normally wouldn't have a shot if you know your feed will continue to scroll once it's over, after all.
Fortunately, it seems that TikTok has heard the pleas of the people who want this feature. If TikTok is currently testing an auto scrolling feature for its app, then it seems highly likely that it's at least considering implementing it fully.
This would be just another one of many features that TikTok has rolled out to make users’ lives easier, such as translating comments, and hiding liked videos from others.
