The Big Apple is Seeing a Spike in Buyers From Outside the City
Even as the number of foreign buyers plummeted, those from outside the five boroughs accounted for nearly one-quarter of all New York City home purchases in the first half of the year, according to a report from research firm PropertyShark. Renters in Winnipeg, Canada, are digging deeper to pay for their digs. The city is seeing the fastest-growing rents for one-bedroom apartments across Canada in the past year. According to a report by Zumper, a one-bedroom apartment in Winnipeg has an average rent of C$1,480 (US$1,079) a month, a 23.3% increase from the same time in 2023, and the highest growth among Canadian cities.
