East Texas’ #1 For New Country
One of the absolute best parts of my job is highlighting heroes from right here in East Texas. Obviously, there are quite a few people that have made an enormous impact but recently I learned about one that I wanted to share with you. It’s about a strong woman who is currently serving in the U.S. Navy and is a native of Frankston, Texas.
As we all know U.S. Navy sailors serve around the globe but it’s fantastic when we can show some love to ones from in our own backyard like Petty Officer Third Class Emily Grayson.
This hero from Frankston, Texas is one of more than 5,000 sailors that are currently serving aboard the self-contained mobile airport, USS Abraham Lincoln. While I have never served in the military personally that sounds like incredible work that she is doing. The USS Abraham Lincoln is equipped with a full flight deck and more than 60 aircrafts including attack fighter jets and helicopters.
Petty Officer Third Class Emily Grayson graduated from La Poynor High School in 2020 and joined the Navy two years ago. She is a perfect role model for others growing up in East Texas wanting to make a difference while serving this great country. She had this to say regarding her decision to join the U.S. Navy:
“I joined the Navy to make my dad proud and to get discipline and structure,” said Grayson. "My dad was in the Army and served in Desert Storm and he inspired me to join."
