As things gradually return to normal across Bali, some of the island’s best restaurants are now jumping back in the game with their unique culinary crafts. Ubud’s own Locavore is rightfully among the best of them, and the restaurant is showcasing their craft with the recent launch of a cinematic tasting menu experience, dubbed The Fourth Wall.
Locavore, which is known for their dedication to using local ingredients, is inviting patrons to enjoy their latest menu — dishes reimagined as homages to classic movies.
“Inspired by classic cinema and the striking genre of Film Noir, we conjure up scenes featuring creative uses of local ingredients,” a statement reads.
Locavore says The Fourth Wall dishes comprise animal protein, root vegetables, as well as sauces and fermentations. A glimpse of their menu shows some interesting options, such as koji fried chicken wings and barbecued leg glazed with coffee grounds kombucha.
Chef Eelke says there’s a “secret” surprise dessert at the end of the meal, which will be served differently depending on the weather. We have a reason to believe that this involves the mighty durian, what with the king of fruits being in season and all.
The thematic dining experience, which was first introduced in October, will run until at least March next year, a Locavore representative told Coconuts. The Fourth Wall Tasting Menu costs IDR1.25 million++, while drinks pairing will cost an additional IDR550K++ per person. The dishes contain animal protein, but a vegetarian option is available upon request.
Dinner is served every Wednesday to Saturday from 6pm, while lunch is served every Friday to Saturday from 12pm. You can reserve your seats to taste this menu yourself here.
