UNDP is the leading United Nations organization fighting to end the injustice of poverty, inequality, and climate change. Working with our broad network of experts and partners in 170 countries and territories, we help nations to build integrated, lasting solutions for people and planet. In Kazakhstan, our focus is on sustaining the country’s growth trajectory by diversifying economy, modernizing institutions, reducing inequalities, and sustainably managing natural resources.
Making gender equality a reality is a core commitment of UNDP. The organization recognizes that women empowerment and gender equality are vital to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which envisions a world of universal respect for human rights and human dignity in which every woman and girl enjoys full gender equality and all legal, social and economic barriers to their empowerment have been removed. UNDP’s Gender Equality Strategy 2022-2025, aligned with its Strategic Plan, is instrumental in fulfilling these obligations and aims to support countries and communities to speed up progress on gender equality and women’s empowerment. It aims to support public institutions to deliver a new generation of policies that diminish negative gender norms through its six ‘signature solutions’, on poverty and inequality; governance; resilience; environment; energy; and gender equality.
We invite you to explore the 2022 UNDP Kazakhstan Annual Report. 2022 was a year marked by rapid socio-economic and political transformations, compounded by the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite all these difficulties, the UNDP in Kazakhstan remained steadfast in its commitment to supporting the country on its path towards sustainable development. Our powerful partnership with the Government, bolstered by our expertise, has allowed us to design more efficient social protection programmes, provide support for Kazakh women's entrepreneurial opportunities, strengthen institutions, and advocate for the rule of law. We helped the nation stride towards carbon neutrality. Our shared successes are notable – from the protection of biodiversity and effective ecosystem management to rejuvenating the “green” economy concept, infusing sustainability into financing systems, endorsing renewable energy sources and reduction greenhouse gas emissions. Within the report, you will find a wealth of information including specific projects, key performance indicators, and factual data.
