Malaysia’s COVID-19 Quartet of Ministers has agreed to extend the Langkawi International Tourism Bubble (LITB) until the national borders open. Initially implemented on 15 November 2021, the three month pilot project tested the readiness of Malaysia’s tourism ecosystem — particularly the tourism industry and frontline workers in receiving international tourists to Malaysia in stages and in a safe manner.
With the extension of the travel bubble, the standard operating procedures for the entry of foreign travellers into Malaysia through the LITB have been adjusted accordingly in compliance with the latest regulations issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH). The changes are as follows:
The updated SOPs take effect from 16 February 2022 and will be the benchmark for the reopening of Malaysia’s international border. For the full set of SOPs, click here.
