US Election 2020 live results: Trump reactions to Biden President-elect, today.
Although Donald Trump refuses to concede, the 2020 Presidential Election has been called for Joe Biden, after the Associated Press on Saturday declared the Democratic challenger the winner in Pennsylvania, whose 20 electoral votes took him over the threshold of 270 needed for victory.
Forty-nine of the 50 states in the US have now been called by AP; please note these are not official results, but are considered to be the next best thing. The agency says it will only call a state when they are certain a candidate has no way back based on a number of factors.
As of 17:00 ET on Friday, only Georgia was still to be called, with AP waiting until after a recount is conducted due to the narrow margin between Biden and Trump in the state.
In terms of individual ballots counted across the US, Biden has amassed over 5.2 million more votes than Trump, with 77,733,656 to the current president’s 72,457,898.
This map shows the winner of the popular vote by state and the amount of electoral votes that Trump and Biden have each picked up so far.
There are 538 electoral votes up for grabs in total, with a candidate needing half plus one of this number to be elected president.
