By Bhavna Agarwal: The MTV Video Music Awards finally took place on August 29, 2022, IST. Among others, BTS, SEVENTEEN and BLACKPINK member Lisa won big at the VMAs. While the Group of the Year was undoubtedly BTS, Lisa created history by winning Best K-pop as a soloist for her solo, Lalisa. SEVENTEEN won in the Push Performance of the Year category as well.
BTS was nominated in five categories: Best K-pop, Best Metaverse performance, Best Visual Effects, Best Choreography and Group of the Year awards. On the other hand, Lisa was nominated alongside groups like BTS, SEVENTEEN, ITZY, TWICE, and Stray Kids in the Best K-pop category. This is a big win for Lisa as a K-pop soloist. Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN was nominated in two more categories, including the Best K-pop and Best New Artist awards. BLACKPINK also won the Best Metaverse Performance award.

Apart from this, Jungkook was also nominated for his song Left and Right, along with Charlie Puth. The VMAs were held at Prudential Center in New Jersey. BLACKPINK members Rose, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa were flown down to give their debut performance at the VMAs. They recently dropped their pre-release track, PINK VENOM, this August. This will be followed by their second full-length album, BORN PINK.
Meanwhile, BTS has been having a busy year with solo projects. J-Hope released his first solo album, JACK IN THE BOX, which was received very well. BTS leader RM will be featuring in a song with Balming Tiger titled SEXY NUKIM. BTS made its debut in 2013 as a seven member group. RM, Suga, Jin, Jimin, J-hope, Jungkook, and V comprise BTS.
Speaking of SEVENTEEN, the group released their repackaged album, SECTOR 17 and has been ruling the charts. The members include S. Coups, Woozi, DK, Dino, Jun, Joshua, Jeonghan, Seungkwan, Vernon, Wonwoo, Mingyu, Hoshi, The8.
