Walltopia Group, a world leader in the climbing and adventure & leisure industries, has shared details about a recent project that highlights its skills and expertise as a turnkey solutions provider. Turnkey solutions and services could be crucial in pitching investors, and also in securing financing in general.
The Jungle Adventure Play in Queensland, Australia, is a key example of how Walltopia’s turnkey solutions can help in the delivery of a project that meets a client’s business plan.
The majority of projects begin with striking a delicate balance between the corporate vision and real-world restrictions. With this project in 2020, the Walltopia team was also fortunate to be working with clients who had firsthand knowledge of the family entertainment sector, nursery management experience, and an easy-to-visualise target group. The owners wanted to include something for the youngest kids already in the nursery, but the main focus was building attractions that would appeal to older kids and also their parents.
The final goal was to construct a full-service family entertainment complex with a wide range of activities for anyone looking to have some fun while climbing, jumping, or otherwise exploring the world of active entertainment.
Walltopia specialises in blending a range of products to meet the commercial objectives of the site’s capacity, the target age group, and the requirement for diversity that will attract more customers. The firm has a portfolio of up to 10+ core active entertainment products, as well as established partnerships with many well-known global companies for additional products, making it a one-stop shop for active entertainment.
The venue’s ceiling measured 8 metres high at the highest point, down to 5.5 at the lowest, which created something of a challenge. Another obstacle was how to accommodate the products from Walltopia’s partners within the final design, ensuring that everything met the safety industry standards. Finally, the team also needed to make sure that the project’s first phase could smoothly expand in the years to come, including the addition of the firm’s signature Rollglider, to make use of the unused space above the attractions.
After carefully considering the site’s peculiarities and having a clear picture of the desired variety, the team began with a Fun Walls zone. To create zones for different ages, fun walls of varying heights and levels of difficulty were included. The result was the installation of 19 Fun Walls, ranging in height from 6 to 8 metres, with some of Walltopia’s most popular features like Speed Walls, Jump in the Air and Skyscraper.
Next, the design incorporated a High Ropes Course, a traditional product with a long-lasting appeal that caters to both children and adults. The team chose a one-level rope course with 20 challenges and constructed it to accommodate a Rollglider starting/end platform once the client was at the point where they could expand into the next phase.
The space below the Ropes Course was an opportunity to add more unharnessed attractions. In addition to a mini golf area that the client had already decided on, Walltopia added its Parcour elements, designed to match the project’s colour scheme. Another element was the Ninja Warrior Course, with two lines and seven challenges.
Finally, the team’s design also included a brand new product, the Cloud Climb, as an additional unharnessed attraction for younger visitors. In addition to its portfolio of active entertainment products, Walltopia also coordinated the choice of an airbag supplier and stainless-steel slide.
Two years on, The Jungle Adventure Play had proved itself to be Queensland’s premier indoor play centre, and the client was ready for expansion. As planned, the team added its signature Rollglider product.
This stage brought new challenges. The Rollglider had undergone a few changes in time that passed since the initial project, as Walltopia is constantly innovating in order to provide the best experience. This meant that it needed larger safety zones than initially planned for, leading to additional engineering.
“This was the easy part,” said a Walltopia representative. “The foundation of an exciting Rollglider ride is height + length. As we had only 8 meters to use (or less in some areas of the site), we had to aim for a long ride. However, the length was relatively short if we only adhered to the attraction zone ceiling.
“That is when we thought of doing something out of the box (literally!) and convinced the client to have some part of the line outside of the building (!) for more fun and a longer ride of 126 meters. And that’s what we did.”
Now, The Jungle Adventure Play is a popular venue for children of all ages and their families. the operator has developed fun programmes such as Jungle Juniors, Junior Ninjas & Wild Warriors, designed in collaboration with occupational therapists, to offer a play-based approach to improve kids’ motor skills, balance, strength, and coordination. The space also hosts team building and corporate events.
“Featuring most of our first-in-class products such as Fun Walls, Ropes Course, Cloud Climb, Ninja Warrior Course, and Rollglider, it quickly feels like the place to go for active entertainment, and we were happy to be part of it, achieving a great variety and maximum capacity of the space,” says Walltopia.
This project shows how Walltopia’s active entertainment products can be arranged in many unique combinations, fitting the requirements of both the space and the business plan.
Walltopia also recently unveiled its new Adventure Hub aerial activity attraction, which allows operators to provide multiple experiences from one spot.
