FIFA have opened a new transfer window that runs up until April 7th and West Ham allegedly could try to make use of it.
The Sun claims that Hammers boss David Moyes is eyeing a double deal to bring Shakhtar Donetsk duo David Neres and Lassina Traore to the London Stadium after FIFA opened a short window to allow players in Russia and Ukraine to find new clubs.
As the war continues, players currently contracted to clubs in Russia and Ukraine will be able to suspend their terms of employment until June 30th, as outlined here on FIFA’s official website.
There is now a one-month window open whereby West Ham could sign a player temporarily up until the end of the season. The window closes on April 7th.
There are murmurings that the Premier League could block any potential signings, however, in order to maintain sporting integrity (Sky Sports).
So whether West Ham would actually be able to sign anyone before the end of the season remains to be seen.
It seems as though the Hammers could at least try though…
The East London outfit are targeting a double deal for Shakhtar Donetsk duo David Neres and Lassina Traore according to The Sun.
Neres, a Brazilian winger, joined Shakhtar in January but is still yet to play for the Ukrainian side.
The 25-year-old bagged 47 goals and 41 assists in 180 games for Ajax (Transfermarkt) – a fairly healthy return. He is a technically gifted winger with pace in abundance and would be a very useful addition for West Ham.
Traore, meanwhile, joined Shakhtar last summer and has bagged nine goals in 14 games since moving from Ajax (Transfermarkt).
Standing at 6ft 1in tall, the 21-year-old is a powerful and pacy front-man and could be a very good understudy to Michail Antonio.
Both Neres and Traore would be very good signings for West Ham.
It would be great to see us utilise the new FIFA transfer window being open midway through the season.
However, there are some potential issues that the East London outfit need to navigate…
Not only is there the problem of the Premier League potential blocking the moves during the new FIFA transfer window, but it is also stated that the Shakhtar Donetsk duo are wary of joining the Hammers because they wouldn’t be guaranteed first team football.
Either way, this story will be an interesting one to keep an eye on over the next 11 days…
