Kuwait’s Property Prices Stagnating
Property prices in Kuwait continued to stagnate in the first quarter of 2023, according to data from the Al-Hesba Real Estate Company. The global economic crisis, increasing interest rates and other factors played a major role in the 6% value decline. Transaction values fell as well in the first quarter, when real estate market deals totaled KD 224.29 million (US$731 million), 38.3% lower than the fourth quarter of 2022. Zawya
In the EU, Croatia Ranks Top for Price Jumps
Croatia logged the largest property price jumps of any EU country in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to data from the European Statistical Office. Home values in the country rose 4.7% compared to the third quarter. Romania and Lithuania rounded out the top three, with prices up 2.5% and 1.9%, respectively. Dubai’s Traffic Hit by Frenzied Property Market
Dubai’s booming property market is being felt on its streets. In 2022, the emirate was faced with longer travel times on the roads. An average journey of 10 kilometers, or roughly six miles, took an extra 20 seconds to complete compared to 2021. Once only jam packed during peak hours, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai Marina and Downtown are now congested day and night, signaling that these hubs are quickly becoming focal points for new residents. London Home Prices Headed for a Drop
With high interest rates sending mortgage payments soaring, London’s home prices are expected to slump 10% by the fall. In an analysis of the market, Samuel Tombs, chief U.K. economist at research firm Pantheon, said prices nationally would fall 8% “peak to trough… with the bottom coming in the autumn.” But he predicted a greater fall in the capital as “higher mortgage rates will have a bigger impact on affordability in London due to very high loan to income ratios.” Evening Standard
