Whitbread has opened the latest London property under its hub by Premier Inn brand.
The 180-room hub by Premier Inn Clerkenwell is located on the site of a former car park on Farringdon Road, as part of a wider mixed-use development offering retail and office space.
It is the 12th hub property in London and 15th nationwide, with a further four hotels currently under development in the capital, including sites in Marylebone and on the Strand.
Whitbread launched the hub by Premier Inn brand in 2013, with the first hotel opening in Covent Garden in 2014 (for our review from early 2015 click here).
I have reviewed two London hub properties in recent years, and found the concept to be well thought out and delivered, with technology that works, good shower facilities and a comfortable bed.
Commenting on the Clerkenwell opening Chris Walton, project and programme manager who led the development for Whitbread, said:
“The hub by Premier Inn Clerkenwell hotel has proved to be one of the most technically challenging projects Whitbread has undertaken.
“The hotel was constructed in a very accessible and constrained location directly above a tunnel serving the Thameslink national railway line.
“The development shows Whitbread has the foresight, the skills and the will to take on challenging construction projects to create superb new hotels for our guests in central London and I am very proud of what we have created here.
“My thanks go to everyone involved in designing, constructing, and delivering the fantastic new building for us.”
