When you think of international football, the names Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo come to mind. They have won countless awards, scored tons of goals and are some of the most famous players in the world.
But did you know that there are plenty of other international football players who are also very talented? One of these is Chris Wood.
Chris plays for Leeds United, a club based in England’s second tier league called The Championship. He was born in Hamilton, New Zealand but moved to England when he was 18 years old to pursue his dream of becoming an international sportsman. His position is striker (this means he usually plays up front), where he has scored many goals for both clubs and countries over his career so far!
Winston Reid is a New Zealand football player who plays as a central defender for West Ham United and the New Zealand national team. Reid was born in Auckland, New Zealand. He began his career at hometown club Waitakere United before moving to Danish club OB in 2005. He then moved to FC Midtjylland (FCM) in 2007 and later had loan spells at AGF Aarhus, Brøndby IF and Colchester United before securing a permanent move back to FCM in 2011 where he played until 2014 when he joined English Premier League side West Ham United on a four-year deal worth £2 million.
In 2015, he signed an extension which extended his contract with West Ham until 2021.[2] In 2017, Reid won the Hammer of the Year award following an impressive season that saw him play 49 games for The Hammers and score three goals – one against Chelsea in their 3–0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge during March 2017, according to this site.
Ryan Thomas is a Kiwi player who played for PEC Zwolle, PSV and Roda JC. He scored two goals for the All Whites during his career, including one in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Thomas played in the Eredivisie from 2005 to 2008 with three different clubs before signing with FC Volendam where he stayed until 2011. He spent some time playing in New Zealand after that before returning to Holland as an overage player at SC Cambuur in 2013.
Marco Rojas, currently playing for Aarhus in Denmark, is a 27-year-old former NZ international.
He played in the Australian A League with Melbourne Victory (2008–10), then moved to Europe when he signed with Stuttgart of Germany’s Bundesliga. He also had spells at Heerenveen in Holland and Vfl Bochum back in Germany before moving to Aarhus earlier this year.
Rojas has scored 17 goals for his country so far and was part of the team that won the Oceania Nations Cup title three times (2011, 2013 and 2015). He has also scored 11 goals in 34 appearances for New Zealand since making his debut as an 18 year old back in 2008
Rory Fallon is one of the most popular international NZ football players. He comes from a long lineage of New Zealanders who have represented their country in international football games. After playing for several teams in New Zealand, he moved to England where he joined Plymouth Argyle FC, located in Devon county. At that time, Plymouth Argyle were competing in The Football League Championship (currently known as Sky Bet EFL).
Rory Fallon’s performance for New Zealand has been outstanding ever since he broke into the team during 2008 FIFA World Cup qualification round matches against Bahrain and Fiji. These two games ended up being decisive ones because they took NZ into the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament after beating Bahrain 2-1 on aggregate score linest over both legs (1-0 and 1-1). Rory was also part of their squad that went on to play at South Africa 2010 where they managed to score one goal each against Slovakia and Paraguay before being knocked out by Slovakia 3-2 on penalties after 120 minutes ended in a stalemate at 0-0 draw.
