As I listened to the audiobook of “Spare,” Prince Harry’s unrestrained memoir of life in and out of the House of Windsor, I repeatedly thought of another nepo-baby memoirist: Christina Crawford.
If you don’t know her name, you’re forgiven. But if I said “Mommie Dearest,” the title of Crawford’s 1978 autobiography about her childhood with movie star mother Joan Crawford, or shouted “No wire hangers, ever!” I bet you’d have a moment of recognition.
