She parked at 10:15 pm and came down at 10:26 pm. “I went to check the two cars, they were not fined, and their engines were cold when I touched them,” said the concerned individual, referring to the vehicles at the unloading bays.
A woman who parked temporarily in front of the rubbish shutter as the Housing and Development Board (HDB) unloading bays were occupied was surprised to come down to a ticket for a parking offence.
“I sent my three children, whom one was sleeping and one is a four-month-old baby, my groceries and four school bags home,” said the mother who shared her experience to Facebook group Complaint Singapore on Saturday (Sept 17).
She parked at 10:15 pm and came down at 10:26 pm. “I went to check the two cars, they were not fined, and their engines were cold when I touched them,” said the concerned individual, referring to the vehicles at the unloading bays.
“They parked in the lot for a long period of time but were not fined. Had the cars not hogged the loading bays, I would not have parked outside the bays to unload my children and stuff,” she explained.
The mother added that she had parked for less than 15 minutes and was fined, “but cars parked for hours (doubt the sedans can carry items that require hours to unload) were not fined.”
“Maybe because after fining me, the quota reached. Applaud for the double standards!” she added.
She attached a photo of the ticket with a composition amount of S$70.
“They just won’t care n just issue the fine only. Cos they aren’t the ones dealing with car owners’ complaints,” commented Facebook user Willis C Will on the post. “They only care about their quota or proof to their bosses that they indeed been doing their job.”
Netizens advised the woman to make an appeal for the parking offence. “Go write in for appeal. If you have any photos of the surroundings that caused you to park and got fined, go upload them too. Everyone has a different predicament,” said Facebook user Titiek Rohani MK.
Others noted the fine for their first offence was also waived after they appealed.
“Can try to appeal, I have the same situation as you, but I was fine 2 mins after I left my car. I appealed, and it was waived off,” added Facebook user Jonas Gobel./TISG
