In April last year, Xiaomi introduced MIUI 12 and at the same time, it published a list of those smartphones that it will update to the new version of its proprietary shell. But in December, the list was changed and Redmi Y3, Redmi 7, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A disappeared from it. The reason is performance and compatibility issues.
But then Xiaomi changed its mind again and released a stable assembly of MIUI 12 for Redmi 6A and Redmi 6. And then the owners of these devices would rejoice and rush to install the update, but there is one BUT. Xiaomi released an update, but it itself recommends not installing it. Again referring to performance issues.
The company decided to hide behind the wording that according to the results of testing by the R&D department of software for mobile devices, it was found that due to the insufficient performance of the equipment of these two models, the MIUI12 stable version cannot meet the OTA full release Redmi6/6A quality standards. After careful consideration, the two models do not do OTA full push, but only provide fastboot packages to friends who want to try it out using manual flashing.
The company also makes a note that the stable version of MIUI 12 for Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A will not ensure smooth operation of devices and “freezes and slow launching of applications” are possible.
Then why do the creators call the build stable? If they cannot provide this very stability. It is not very clear why it was decided to release this update if its adequate work cannot be ensured. It seems that Xiaomi has taken the position of “you asked – we released”.
Here is a reminder of the specifications of both smartphones.
